Meet Dr. Julie Burnham
As a Michigan native, I am honored to serve my community by providing care that is thoughtful, personalized, and grounded in each individual’s needs.
I completed my medical degree at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1994, followed by a traditional internship at Mt. Clemens General Hospital (now McLaren Macomb Hospital). I went on to complete my neurology residency at Garden City Hospital in 1998, where I served as chief resident, and later became dually board-certified in adult neurology and psychiatry.
I am board-certified in both neurology and psychiatry, with a clinical focus on Multiple Sclerosis, migraines, and general neurological conditions, including Parkinson’s disease and dementia. I also provide diagnostic services such as EMG’s to support a thorough and accurate understanding of each patient’s condition. You can read more about this here.

Alongside my work in private practice, I remain deeply engaged in advancing the field of neurology through research focused on improving treatment and patient outcomes. Through professional meetings, educational programs, and patient-focused organizations, I stay actively connected to the broader neurological community and the ongoing work of improving care. Additionally, I serve as a Clinical Associate Professor of Neurology and Neuro-ophthalmology at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, where I have the privilege of training medical students and residents. Teaching has always been an important part of my work, and I continue to share knowledge through lectures at both national and international conferences.
Over the years, I have been grateful to receive recognition for both patient care and education, including Hour Magazine’s Top Docs, Yoga Moves MS Neurologist of the Year, and Best Educator of the Year as voted by residents in training. These honors reflect what matters most to me—supporting patients and contributing to the growth of future physicians.
